Som museum og laboratorium udvikler vi nye formater for udstilling, arkiv og fælles lytning, der udfordrer den visuelle kulturs dominans og opbygger et socialt lytteoverskud. Museet forbinder lokale lydmiljøer med internationale netværk og gør lytning til sanselig viden, omsorg og medborgerskab—en måde at lytte til steder, arter, teknologier og stemmer, der ellers ikke høres.

A SONIC MUSEION

Why Sonic? Sonic Museion is a museum for sound art addressing the under-developed reception of sound art—its practices, histories, and transdisciplinary methods. It grows from a public sound library hosted in a bookshop, expanding into international exhibition and listening formats, anchored by the micro-biennial Nine Days of Green: a rehearsal of new sonic publics

Why Museion? A Museion designates the museum before it became ‘a museum’ in moderne terms, a place dedicated to contemplation, study, and the arts. It is a living nexus for collecting, exhibiting, researching, and teaching – leading to the formation of the first libraries and early versions of universities. As an interdisciplinary platform, it stages encounters between art, scholarship, and public practice—part archive, part lab. It approaches history not as linear progression but as a way of recovering the unheard: sidelined archives, activating latent techniques, and composing new genealogies through listening.

A museion today seeks to trace the foundations of the modern and put them into a contemporary setting and situation.
