About

Profile
Sonic Museion – Museum for Sound Art is a museum, archive, and public platform dedicated to the histories, practices, and futures of sound art. We exist to make audible what has too often remained unheard: the decisive role of sound in shaping modern and contemporary art, culture, and technology. Through exhibitions, archives, research, education, and site-responsive projects, Sonic Museion works to bring sound art into clearer public, historical, and institutional focus. Grounded in listening as an aesthetic, social, and ecological practice, the museum operates both as a place and as a living cultural infrastructure.

Vision
Our vision is to become a leading international point of reference for sound art and listening culture: a museum where sound is not only exhibited, but explored as a way of knowing, sensing, and being in the world. Sonic Museion seeks to connect artistic experimentation with ecology, technology, public life, and everyday listening, creating resonant spaces where new forms of awareness, participation, and cultural imagination can emerge.

Mission
Our mission is to develop, document, preserve, and share sound art as a critical and collective cultural practice. We do this by activating overlooked histories, building new archives, commissioning and presenting artistic work, and creating public formats for listening through exhibitions, workshops, walks, talks, and collaborations. Sonic Museion aims to strengthen listening as a cultural competence and to position sound art as an essential part of contemporary cultural life.
